Baba Bard Goriya

Baba Bard Goriya is one of the  famous temple located in Nawalparasi District of Nepal .If you ever been to Butwal or Narayanghat of west Nepal  then I hope you have heard the location called Ramnagar Bhumahi from where we need to walk on foot for thirty minutes to reach this temple.

This temple has got historical and religious significance in the area, there are many myths regarding the origin of this temple.Once a holy  bull with a golden rope was followed by some thieves and was captured and hit badly for gold. The wounded   bull  arrived to a pond and drank water and saved his life. So, the pond was later got popularity as Amarpokhari and a temple of Goddess Durga is  also made nearby it.The bull later reached to nearby forest where he was turned in to a statue and  people around the area made temple around it and began to worship him as Baba Bard Goriya as a form of God Shiva, the creator. And it is said, the  place where   the gold fell down  was  named Sunwal ,which  is a famous town area  now.

Some says as they got the different  statues in forest , so they may be the reminiscences of ancient palace. In fact, these above myths are passed to generation to generation but there are no scientific proofs regarding those myths and all of  those  multiples narratives regarding the temple are related to creator and nature which is gist of each religion.

Different cultural programs are also organized here  during the mid August in Name of Teej Celebration ,where  many Nepalese and Indian Tourists are found enjoying the site. So,  I think, this is the possible site for tourism .
